Canopus
is the brightest star in the southern
constellation of Carina and the second-brightest star in the night sky.
It is also designated
α Carinae, which is romanized
(transliterated) to Alpha Carinae.
With a visual apparent magnitude
of −0.74, it is outshone only by Sirius.
Canopus has been chosen as our "family star" because it is the second brightest star in the heavens.
Argo Navis was the ship used by Jason and the Argonauts in the legend of the Trojan War. The brightest star in the constellation was given the name of a ship's pilot from another Greek legend: Canopus, pilot of Menelaus' ship
on his quest to retrieve Helen of Troy
after she was taken by Paris.[17]
This has been the star that for centuries, sailors have used to navigate their way home when they were lost and searching and had no hope of ever getting home again.

Warriors Everafter are a group of women brought together by their combined love of family, children, giving and compassion to help their communities by providing assistance, financial and spiritual support, guidance and nurturing to children, teens and adults who have no immediate family to help support them in these troubled times. The Warriors Everafter have been able to provide places to live, school supplies and sports equipment, food and provisions to anyone who is lost and seeking a place to feel safe and supported in their communities.
With the help of donations, community project support and purchase of unique gifts, Warriors Everafter has been able to provide safe and productive after school programs for displaced children and assist single parents in providing support while they are working, allowing them peace of mind that their children are protected when not at home.
